SIL registration

Do I need to register my SIL business with the NDIS?

Short answer: New SIL providers must register from 1 July 2026. Were you delivering SIL before that date? If you lodged a valid application before 1 October 2026, you can keep delivering while it is assessed. If you did not, the transition no longer protects that delivery. See the sources.

Before 1 October 2026 means lodged on or before 30 September 2026. If your application is refused, the transition stops protecting that delivery.

Start with the facts

"SIL business" is not enough to answer the registration question. Write down these facts first.

  • Your legal or trading entity.
  • Whether you were delivering SIL before 1 July 2026.
  • The supports you deliver and the sites you use.
  • Your registration status today.
  • Who your workers are.
  • Whether another organisation runs part of the service.

Keep the source, any Commission letters and your own date record in one place. This is an application deadline, not an approval. The Commission decides whether to register you.

What the transition means

The SIL pathway sets certification and registration group 0138 for this service. The Rules and the pathway say when an unregistered provider can keep delivering while an application is assessed.

Match the pathway to the supports, sites and services you really run.

What to check this week

  1. Write your scope. Your entity, SIL supports, sites, workers, registration status and start date.
  2. Check the date. Were you delivering SIL before 1 July 2026? Keep the proof.
  3. List your records. Policies, registers, worker screening, written procedures and where each file sits.
  4. Mark the gaps. Missing letters, unclear modules, thin records and questions to ask.
  5. Name who acts. One person confirms the pathway and another prepares the application.

Common mistakes

  • Treating 1 July as one deadline for every unregistered SIL provider.
  • Letting your business label pick your modules or registration group.
  • Building a big policy folder before you check your entity, supports and dates.
